Hi Divas!!
I am so excited to be launching my blog for you all. This is something I've been working on for the past few months and I'm now ready to launch it!
I've been working hard on my new album for ages, but I simply love writing and I've always wanted a platform to be able to share with you what's going on in my life, but also things that happen along the way. It seems I'm always having adventures!
Before I write any more, I want to give a big shout out to a few people who helped me put this blog together - Erin, who did a LOT of work on the coding with all the menus - she worked so hard on it, so a huge thank you to her! I've always thought it would be great to have a place where you could go to find all the cool crazy stuff. There's not really any blogs that really focus on the things that I really love, it's all sort of very specialised, so I figured I'd make one myself! Divaland is a place where you can find everything about everything, from how to dye your hair rainbow coloured, to where to get decent vitamins from, how to have Tea at the Ritz for £6.50...and much much more. At least, that's the idea! We'll see where this goes...

I'm about to get ready for an LFW (that's London Fashion Week) party so.... please follow and check back! I'll be posting hopefully once a day, but even if I don't, that means there's lots to catch up on!

You may have heard that 4th Power are to change their name to 4th Impact.
ReplyDeleteThe name is not bad, it just doesn't have the same...erm... impact. Apparently the girls aren't happy about this, but they are left with no choice.
The girls can't afford a counter claim and quite understandably, The X Factor do not have the budget / time to pursue, a long and costly legal action. I am no legal expert and I do not know the details of the actual complaint. I do however, believe the girls can keep their 4th Power name.
The group claiming (4th Power) may actually be "The 4th Power Vocal Group". They appear listed as The 4th Power Vocal Group on iTunes and Spotify. I am only 90% certain. Without being able to contact them, I cannot be 100% sure.
This is therefore mute if they are not the band in question, though you may find this still interesting.

It's clear to see the complaint was unjustified and unfair. The 4th Power Vocal Group is so very far removed from 4th Power.
If you can alter a name by extending it, then surely the reverse is true. Also there can't possibly be copyright infringement. 4th Power is used to name a brand and is not duplicating any artistic work specific to the actual words, 4th Power.
If this were the case. Then a complaint should also be cited against other companies. Like 4th Power (gym) and 4th Power (Steel). Also 4th Power is a term used in algebra for over 100 years. Any artistic licence attributed will have to be very strong. Nothing comes to mind when I hear it, other than maths and of course the girls,
The complaint makes The 4th Power Vocal Group look oppressive and discriminatory.
I can't do anymore to help the girls. I hope you can help.
Another journalist or researcher might find a way to contact them. First to confirm they made the complaint, then second, to persuade for them to withdraw the complaint.
An artist such as yourself could maybe ask as well. Possibly also Fleur East, Zoella and Markus Feehily, who apparently are also fans.
4th Power is now a household name. Maybe a change of name won't make a difference, nobody can really be sure. However, this will make a good story, only if the outcome is a happy one.
Right now it is a sad, lonely reminder of how petty and indifferent we are to each other.
The 4th Power Vocal Group can take pride in keeping the name from anyone else and remain in the wilderness of obscurity.
What sort of pride is it, to deprive anyone and anything of fulfilling it's full potential? It is a false sense of pride and failure of the human heart.
4th Power can potentially become a girl power group, the likes of which the world have never seen. It is so hard to be discovered as an artist, you would think there is some camaraderie and mutual appreciation of the struggles they go through.

They really are called 4th Power. So unless they are willing to share the name. Then the girls will have to be renamed 4th Impact.
